Protein Structure Prediction

This announcement solicits papers for a special track focusing on the understanding, and ultimately, the prediction, of protein structure, to be held as part of the Pacific Symposium on Biocomputing (PSB-98).

Preferred papers should describe approaches that lead to testable protein structure predictions. Predictive accuracy should be quantified and compared. Controls for homology and cross-validation should be stated explicitly. We encourage papers that test theories with experimental results across a large diverse set of proteins.

Requirements

Full paper submission and publication is required for oral presentations. Each full paper will be reviewed by at least three independent referees.

Poster and demo sessions are available for researchers who wish to exhibit their work at PSB, but do not wish to prepare a paper.

Physical submittors should send five copies of their paper to:

PSB-98
c/o Section on Medical Informatics
Stanford University Medical School, MSOB X215
Stanford, CA 94305-5479 USA

Electronic submission of papers is welcome. Format requirements for electronic submission will be available on the web page (http://psb.stanford.edu) or from Dr. Altman (altman@smi.stanford.edu). Electronic papers will be submitted directly to Dr. Altman.

All one page abstracts should be submitted electronically to Dr. Altman. Please send them in plain ascii text or as a Microsoft Word file.

Deadlines

** July 14 -- papers due to PSB-98 as above.
** Aug 22 -- final paper decisions announced.
** Sept 22 -- camera ready copy due.
** Oct 1 -- poster abstracts due (after this date, posters will be accepted on a space available basis; space will be limited especially for interactive/computational posters after this date.)

Travel Support

PSB has received grants from NSF and DoE to support travel to PSB '98, and will be able to offer partial travel support to some PSB '98 participants. See http://psb.stanford.edu/ for more information.
