Session Topics

  1. Informatics concepts, tools, and techniques to enable integrative translational research.

  2. Computational approaches aimed for finding molecular mechanisms and therapies for disease.

  3. Computational methods and algorithms for the analysis of molecular and clinical measurements.

  4. Systems biology approaches utilizing diverse -omics datasets for understanding diseases, and therapies.

  5. Relating and representing molecular or subcellular phenotypes with relevance to the clinical levels.

  6. Computational methods and algorithms used in genetics discoveries and clinical practice.

Translational research aims to bridge basic life sciences and medicine by incorporating results obtained from basic science to advance clinical applications, and drive basic science based on insights gained from clinical experience.

This session recognizes this challenge and focuses on computational methods that enable translational research through integration of various -omics and/or clinical datasets. The session calls for contributions describing computational models, algorithms, simulation studies, and innovative analyses of biological and/or clinical datasets with a substantial and innovative computational component.

Other topics related to the subject area are welcome. Please contact session co-chairs if unsure.

Submission Information

Submitted papers are peer-reviewed and accepted on a competitive basis. At least three reviewers will be assigned to each submitted manuscript.

Paper Format

Please see the PSB paper format template and instructions at http://psb.stanford.edu/psb-online/psb-submit.

The file formats we accept are: postscript (*.ps) and Adobe Acrobat (*.pdf)). Attached files should be named with the last name of the first author (e.g. altman.ps or altman.pdf). Hardcopy submissions or unprocessed TEX or LATEX files will be rejected without review.

Each paper must be accompanied by a cover letter. The cover letter must state the following:

  1. The email address of the corresponding author.

  2. The specific PSB session that should review the paper or abstract.

  3. The submitted paper contains original, unpublished results, and is not currently under consideration elsewhere.

  4. All co-authors concur with the contents of the paper.

Submitted papers are limited to twelve (12) pages in our publication format. Please format your paper according to instructions found at http://psb.stanford.edu/psb-online/psb-submit/. If figures cannot be easily resized and placed precisely in the text, then it should be clear that with appropriate modifications, the total manuscript length would be within the page limit.

Contact Russ Altman (psb.hawaii @ gmail.com) for additional information about paper submission requirements.
