PSB 2018 Session: Imaging Genomics

Motivation
Imaging genomics is an emerging research field that arises with the recent advances in acquiring high throughput omics data and multimodal imaging data. Its major task is to perform integrative analysis of genomics data and structural, functional and molecular imaging data. Bridging imaging and genomic factors and exploring their connections have the potential to provide important new insights into the phenotypic characteristics and genetic mechanisms of normal and/or disordered biological structures and functions, which in turn will impact the development of new diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive approaches. However, the unprecedented scale and complexity of these imaging and genomic data sets have presented critical computational bottlenecks requiring new concepts and enabling tools. This PSB 2018 Imaging Genomics Session aims to encourage discussion on fundamental concepts, creative methods and novel applications, and move forward the development and implementation of innovative bioinformatics strategies for hypothesis testing and data-driven discovery in imaging genomics.
Session Topics
Imaging genomics is
a young and rapidly evolving field. The scale and complexity of
multidimensional imaging and omics data provide us unprecedented opportunities
in enhancing mechanistic understanding of complex disorders such as
neurological diseases and cancers, which can benefit public health outcomes by
facilitating diagnostic and therapeutic progress. However, due to the high
dimensionality and complex structure of these data sets, this field is facing
major computational and bioinformatics challenges. We welcome submissions to
address these challenges. Topics include but are not limited to:
o Heritability analysis of imaging phenotypes
o Genetic association study of imaging phenotypes
o Integration of imaging and genomics data for biomarker discovery
o Genetic interaction study of imaging phenotypes
o Meta analysis in imaging genomics
o Pathway or network analysis in imaging genomics
o Systems biology in imaging genomics
o Machine learning in imaging genomics
o Genomics of multimodal imaging phenotypes
o Multi-omics analysis of imaging phenotypes
o Bioinformatics strategies for molecular or genomic imaging
o Predictive modeling via integrative imaging genomics
o Translational imaging genomics
o Novel clinical applications in imaging genomics

Submission and Paper Format
Submission: Please submit online following the instructions at http://psb.stanford.edu/psb-online/psb-submit/.
Paper Format: Papers should be limited to 12 pages (not including the cover letter) and formatted according to the instructions at http://psb.stanford.edu/psb-online/psb-submit/. The accepted file formats are: postscript (*.ps) and Adobe Acrobat (*.pdf). Attached files should be named with the last name of the first author (e.g. altman.ps or altman.pdf). Hardcopy submissions or unprocessed TEX or LATEX files or electronic submissions not submitted through the paper management system will be rejected without review.
Cover Letter: Each paper must be accompanied by a cover letter. The cover letter should be the first page of your paper submission. The cover letter must state the following:
o The email address of the corresponding author
o The specific PSB session that should review
the paper or abstract
o The submitted paper contains original,
unpublished results, and is not currently under consideration elsewhere.
o All co-authors concur with the contents of
the paper.
Paper Review:
Please note that the submitted papers are peer-reviewed and accepted on a
competitive basis.
Proceedings:
The core of the conference consists of rigorously peer-reviewed full-length
papers reporting on original work. All accepted papers will be published
electronically and indexed in PubMed, and the best of these will be presented
orally to the entire conference. PSB will also initiate submission to PubMed
Central (PMC); however, PMC indexing applies only to papers that comply with
the NIH
Public Access Policy.
Poster abstract: Researchers wishing to present their research without official publication are encouraged to submit a one page abstract by the abstract deadline listed above to present their work in the poster sessions.
